pas•sion (păsh'en) n.
Boundless enthusiasm
beau•ty (byōō'tē) n.
The quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality.

To some, the desert is a place of vast emptiness, while to others it is a place of sublime beauty. For those whose imaginations are captured by all things equine, the desert is revered as the source of ultimate beauty – the Arabian horse.
In the western world, no desert is more beautiful than the Sonoran, with its majestic saguaro cacti and dramatic sunsets, and in an ironic twist of fate, the American desert of this region has become a modern source of the finest Arabian horses. For David Cains and Scott Bailey, it is the perfect setting to pursue their passion.
As the sun rises over the mountains east of Scottsdale, Arizona, David and Scott begin a day filled with the joys of a life with Arabian horses. While many people associate the pair with their highly successful internet business, Arabhorse.com, they are also dedicated breeders of Arabian horses. A look at either of these ventures clearly demonstrates that excellence is their standard.
“The focus of our breeding program is to produce beautiful, typy purebred and straight Egyptian horses capable of both a halter and performance career,” says David. “We also want horses that can contribute to a breeding program in a meaningful way,” Scott adds. Both believe the key to success is the time-honored formula of acquiring exceptional mares which possess individual quality combined with superb pedigrees. “For us, the determining factor is the tail female line,” explains David, “as breeding programs around the world have demonstrated time and time again the strength and consistency of certain female lines.”

The heart and soul of their program is the incomparable BB Flamingo Rose, a mare who exemplifies their breeding philosophies. A breathtaking beauty, she has been named an “Aristocrat Mare” by Arabian Horse World for her nine champion foals which have earned an astonishing 6 U.S. National Championships, 6 U.S. Reserve National Championships, 12 U.S. Top Tens, 16 Regional Championships, 9 Reserve Regional Championships, 35 Regional Top Five Championships and close to 100 Class A blue ribbons. Three of her daughters also grace the Stonewall breeding program, SWF Desert Rose by Magnum Psyche, SWF Foxxy Afire by Afire Bey V, and FAR Faryna, by Aladdin I, and each demonstrates the quality and consistency of their wonderful dam.
The powerful beauty and breathtaking motion of Russian blood is found on the paternal side of the broodmare band through two daughters of the acclaimed sire Padron’s Psyche. Magna Psyche boasts the distinction of being a full sister to Magnum Psyche, while Miss Psyche is out of the Menes daughter Mallorca, and traces in tail female to the influential mare *Sanacht.
An Egyptian queen also graces the farm in the form of the mare Hadayyah. Her sire is El Hadiyyah, a son of the legendary *Ansata Ibn Halima, and her dam is the exquisite Nabiel daughter, Bint Bint Hamamaa, owned by Al Nakeeb Arabians in England. Hadayyah’s full brother, Shaheen, was a National Champion in Egypt, as well as a sire of National Champions, and is an important sire for noted breeder Omar Sakr.
The young horses of Stonewall Farm include three charming fillies by Marwan Al Shaqab: SWF Marrakech out of the *Eukaliptus daughter Checkers; SWF Sahara Rose out of SWF Desert Rose; and SWF Empress out of SWF Valencia, a Psytanium daughter who was recently purchased by Al Shaqab Stud of Qatar. Selket Marque, a yearling colt by Marwan Al Shaqab out of the *Furtho Khemal daughter Selket Khamala is also an important addition to the farm. “I couldn’t take my eyes off Marque when I saw him,” says David, “and he generated the same type of excitement I felt when I first saw another wonderful Marwan colt that we owned, Marajj.” While Marajj now resides in the United Arab Emirates with Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud al Qassimi, Marque is a promising young colt who will stay at Stonewall Farm and be given the opportunity to breed some of their stellar mares when he comes of age.
The breeding program of Stonewall Farm is purposely small, so every breeding is carefully planned and the results critical to the farm’s success. For both David and Scott, their favorite way to celebrate their horses is to experience the birth of a new foal. “Bringing a foal into the world is one of life’s most precious moments,” says David.
As dusk falls over the Sonoran desert and the myriad shapes of the saguaro cast magical shadows, David and Scott reflect on the joy the Arabian horse has brought to their lives. “Travel has taught us much,” explains Scott, “and we love the international shows which celebrate the natural beauty of the Arabian yet remain exciting and fun.” They also cherish the many friendships they have gained throughout the world – from South America, to Europe, to the Middle East – and look forward to more travel and friends in the future. “We love to meet people who share our passion,” says David, “and enjoy welcoming others to Stonewall Farm.”
What better place to celebrate the beauty of the Arabian horse than one of the world’s most beautiful deserts!”
BB Flamingo Rose
- (Bask Flame x Donna Fernava)
- AHW Aristocrat Mare
- Dam of 4 U.S. National Champions
- In foal to *Al Adeed Al Shaqab for 2007
With sixteen foals in twenty-three years, numbers alone would make BB Flamingo Rose a great broodmare by anyone's standards. But when the incredible quality and consistency of her foals is considered, as well as their enviable show records, she is truly a queen among mares.
SWF Desert Rose
- (Magnum Psyche x BB Flamingo Rose)
- U.S. Reserve National Champion
- In foal to *Al Lahab for 2007
A beautiful combination of Russian, Polish, Spanish, and classic American bloodlines, SWF Desert Rose's four great-grandsires, *Padron, *Sasaki, *Bask and Don Fersheba, are each stallions who achieved greatness in the breeding shed. Adding the classic type of Egyptian bloodlines to SWF Desert Rose should surely make for a foal that is a desert dream come true.
Magna Psyche
- (Padrons Psyche x A Fancy Miracle)
- Full sister to International Champion Magnum Psyche
- Will be bred to Selket Marque in 2007
With the huge dark eyes that are the hallmark of the Arabian, Magna Psyche is a graceful and elegant mare. Echoing the style and quality of her famous full brother, she should be an exciting mare to breed and her combination of Spanish and Russian bloodlines make for a powerful genetic palette upon which to paint. She is an obvious choice for a first foal from the young Marwan Al Shaqab son, Selket Marque.
Miss Psyche
- (Padrons Psyche x Mallorca by Menes)
- Will be bred to WH Justice in 2007
Miss Psyche, a mare of superb type, is already a proven producer of exceptional foals. Her pedigree is three-quarters Russian, featuring *Padron, Menes, Kilimandscharo and Priboj, and her granddam was the beautiful Amurath Isis, a *Ramses Fayek daughter tracing to the legendary mare *Sanacht.
Hadayyah
- (El Hadiyyah x Bint Bint Hamamaa)
- Straight Egyptian Mare
- Will be bred to Majestic Noble SMF in 2007
Bint Bint Hamamaa, the Nabiel daughter who is the dam of Hadayyah, is one of the most beautiful Egyptian mares in the world. Hadayyah's sire, El Hadiyyah, is also renowned for producing exquisite type, and has produced champions around the world including Egyptian National Champion Shaheen. Her pedigree also features such Egyptian luminaries as Nabiel, *Ansata Ibn Halima, Ansata Ibn Sudan and *Sakr, who had multiple National Championships and Top Tens in both halter and performance to their credit.
